If you are in the market for a full-size luxury sedan that is loaded with all of the top tech features, then look no further than the new 2020 Cadillac CT6. With two engines to choose from, you can decide how much power you want under the hood. With state-of-the-art safety features, the new 2020 Cadillac CT6 works tirelessly to prevent accidents on the road. This beauty exudes sophistication and elegance and can carry five passengers with 15.8 cubic feet of space in the trunk. Essentially, this luxury model is perfect for small families.
Compared to last year’s model, several trims and engine options were eliminated for the company to focus more on creating the ultimate luxury sedan. In a sense, the car has been simplified and magnified at the same time. More features that were previously optional are now standard, including Super Cruise - one of the top automated driving assistance systems in the world at the moment. Of the three available trims, the only one that doesn’t come standard with Super Cruise is the base model.
Let’s take some time to explore all of the new features and styling elements of the 2020 Cadillac CT6 by covering performance, interior, and exterior.
As we touched on previously, the new 2020 Cadillac CT6 comes with one of two engine options. First is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. Mated with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive, this model has a fuel economy set at 22 mpg combined (18 city/27 highway). The second motor choice is known as the Blackwing. It’s a turbocharged 4.2-liter V8 that pumps out 500 hp and 574 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with the same drivetrain, but the estimated fuel economy has not yet been released. However, track tests have shown that this engine can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
For the production year of 2020, Cadillac has also revised its popular driving aid, known as Super Cruise. Developed to compete against Tesla’s Autopilot system Super Cruise is an automated driver assistance feature that debuted in the CT6 two years ago. It uses LIDAR mapping data, radar, and a system of cameras to monitor road conditions and traffic. This takes a lot of stress off of the driver and even enables the driver to take their hands off the wheel and relax. It also monitors the driver’s eyes to ensure that he or she is not looking at their phone. Approximately 70% of divided highways are included in the Super Cruise system. That means that drivers can relax on long road trips if the highway they are taking is included in the program.
With the added Active Chassis Package, all four wheels drive, steer, and adjust vertical suspension dampening within milliseconds using the Magnetic Ride Control system. This gives drivers more flexibility and maneuverability on curvy roads, which is just another reason the 2020 Cadillac CT6 goes beyond the average sedan.
The main differences in the Cadillac CT6 models can be seen across the varying trim levels. It is available in only three, and they include Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum.
The base Luxury model is anything but basic. This beauty includes an infotainment interface that is displayed on a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen that operates with smartphone integration for seamless audio streaming and hands-free calling. The power-adjustable seats can be situated to suit your height, and they are also heated for comfort during the colder months. A navigation system is also included to ensure that you stay on the fastest route to work and never get lost in a new city again. Standard safety features include blindspot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist to help prevent accidents on the road. This model also comes with a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot to keep you connected everywhere you go. Interior color options for the Luxury model include Jet Black leather seating or Sahara Beige leather seating with Jet Black accents. It even has a sunroof for you to enjoy perfect weather days during rides into the countryside. It’s not a little sunroof either. This luxury design element takes up most of the roof space, giving front and back seat passengers a beautiful view of the outside.
Next is the Premium Luxury version. This sophisticated ride comes with adaptive cruise control and the aforementioned Super Cruise system. Magnetic ride control and active rear-wheel steering provide passengers with a smoother experience on the roads, and this model also features plenty of comfort and entertainment upgrades. For example, a 34-speaker Bose Panaray stereo system has been added for the best audio experience. This system delivers a studio-worthy performance every time you turn it on. If you are a professed audio head, you will love to listen to your favorite songs through this premium sound system. If you have children, this might be the perfect trim level for you as well because of the rear-seat entertainment system. It will keep the kids preoccupied during longer drives. Interior color combinations for the Premium Luxury model include Jet Black leather seating with perforated accents or Sahara Beige leather seating with Jet Black accents and perforated inserts.
Finally, the top-of-the-line Platinum model is equipped similarly to the Premium Luxury model. The main difference is the addition of the larger blacking V8 engine. Also, Platinum versions add heating and cooling elements to both the front and back seats. The front seats also feature 15 massage settings to keep your muscles from getting fatigued due to overextended period of sitting. Hand-crafted materials have been used to decorate the cabin. These range from authentic wood veneers to carbon fiber. Interior colors for this top-tier trim include Jet Black semi-aniline leather seating with perforated inserts or Light Cashmere semi-aniline leather seating with Maple Sugar accents and perforated inserts. A rear camera mirror is also included at this level. It toggles between a digital video feed from a rear-mounted camera and a basic rearview mirror. Cadillac boasts that this mirror/camera combo is glare-free and enhances visibility.
Let’s take a closer look at this model’s infotainment system. All of the 2020 CT6 sedans come with Cadillac's User Experience (CUE) infotainment software. Inspired by GM's Infotainment 3.5 platform, CUE presents a completely refreshed menu structure and interface, making it more user-friendly. Using cloud-connection, this system enables profile syncing and deep app integrations, which are optimal if more than one person drives this vehicle. Compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enable seamless audio streaming, and the updated navigation system offers predictive destination suggestions and more accurate estimated arrivals times based on real-time traffic data. The 10.2-inch HD touchscreen is a widescreen monitor that displays data using vibrant, well-lit inputs. It is also flush with the dash and can be operated using a control knob located on the center console. This is handy if you want to keep fingerprints to a minimum.
If you are impressed by the inside of the 2020 Cadillac CT6, then you’ll be even more thrilled when you see the outside. This curvaceous beauty makes quite the first impression.
Everyone knows that a car’s paint color is important to establishing a respected presence. That’s why the CT6 is available in eight classic shades. These include Black Raven, Stellar Black Metallic, Manhattan Noir Metallic (gray), Shadow Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, Radiant Silver Metallic, Crystal White Tricoat, and Red Horizon Tintcoat.
With its revised body style, the new CT6 weighs about 220 pounds less than previous versions. Its aluminum structure is lightweight and built with 12 new patented design elements. Cadillac’s signature headlamps are designed with bi-LED high-/low beam projectors that offer enhanced visibility at night and during inclement weather. Striking 20-inch wheels come standard across all three trims as well.
Agile and responsive, the new 2020 Cadillac CT6 delivers an exhilarating driving experience and will have heads turning everywhere you go.
