Carved and lit pumpkins on a lawn in Arlington TX

Although we are located in Fort Worth, all of us here at Frank Kent Cadillac view the entire surrounding area as our home. When we’re looking for something to do on the weekend or a fun way to get out and enjoy this gorgeous part of the state, we don’t limit ourselves to just the Fort Worth city limits. There are lots of great events coming up in Arlington, Texas that have us excited, especially with the holidays so close on the horizon.

Recently, we asked around the lot about what events people are most looking forward to. Here are seven of the ones that caught our ear and seem like a great way to spend a day, evening, or weekend. While we have provided the most accurate information we can on each one of these, be sure to call ahead before going to any of the events in case of last-minute changes.

Pumpkin Nights – Oct. 10th through Nov. 3rd

What better way to get ready for Halloween than a stroll through a twilight wonderland of carved pumpkins and entertainment? Pumpkin Nights, starting on Thursday, October 10th and running through Sunday, November 3rd, is a celebration of autumn, the night, and all things pumpkin. Pumpkins carved by professional artists and fire performers light up the night, along with showings of The Nightmare Before Christmas – not to mention food and beverages for kids and adults.

Tickets can be bought in advance online, and cost $20 per adult, $16 for kids 4 – 12 years old, $18 for seniors over 60, and free admission for kids 3 and under. So long as the weather doesn’t get too extreme, Pumpkin Nights are open rain or shine, from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm every night. It will be held at Howell Family Farms on Division St, with parking available for $6 per car.

South Street Art Festival – Oct. 11th through 13th

Next up we have the South Street Art Festival, a perfect celebration of local and national artists and a chance to take advantage of the gorgeous fall weather. This event will be going on the weekend of Friday, October 11th through Sunday the 13th and is open from 4 pm to 10 pm each day. More than a hundred different exhibitors from the Arlington area, and all over the country, come to show their arts and crafts at the Festival.

Live music and free concerts will also be going on each evening, with opportunities to try delicious food, craft beers, and excellent wine. The event is free to attend with free parking on downtown streets and at local parking garages. It will be held at the 300 Block E South St and is a great opportunity to see new things and find unexpected treasures.

60th Anniversary of the El Camino – Oct. 11th through 12th

It should go without saying that we’re car-lovers here at Frank Kent Cadillac. While we might enjoy the luxury of a Cadillac more than some other vehicles, we still appreciate seeing other models too. That’s why we’re excited to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the El Camino, which first rolled out from Chevrolet in 1959.

This event, hosted by the National El Camino Owners Association, will be held the weekend of Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th, from 9 am to 5 pm each day. It will be held at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and is free to the public, unless you want to book a room at the Sheraton. Hundreds of El Caminos and other GMCs will come together from all over the world, putting on driving displays and celebrating this vehicle.

Fall Festival – October 12th through 13th

If you’re not already exhausted from the South Street Art Festival or the 60th Anniversary of the El Camino, then be sure to take part in the Fall Festival. This is going to be a fantastic celebration of the autumnal season and everything that Arlington has to offer. The Fall Festival will run from Saturday, October 12th through Sunday, October 13th, and goes from 11 am to 9 pm, so you can head here after checking out the El Caminos.

It will be a great event for the whole family and includes a pumpkin patch, storytelling under the stars, and a bounce house with climbing wall. Food vendors will be on hand, so plan on showing up hungry, and there will be a Children’s Area specifically for kids from ages 2 to 10 years old. Admission is just $8 per person over 3 years old, and that includes admission to the River Legacy Park and the Science Center. The Fall Festival will be held on Green Oaks Blvd at the River Legacy Living Science Center.

Water Lantern Event – Oct. 19th

If you want to take part in a truly unique and memorable event, then consider the Water Lantern Event. Hundreds of paper lanterns will be lit and released onto the water, creating a gorgeous and dazzling display for young and old alike. This will be held at Globe Life Park, on Mark Holtz Lake, on Ballpark Way. You get to decorate your paper lantern in any way you want, then light it and set it to float on the lake for everyone to enjoy.

The Water Lantern Event will take place on Saturday, October 19th, with gates opening at 4 pm, lantern design starting at 6 pm, and the lantern launch from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
