Cadillac’s upcoming XT6 model has all of us eagerly anticipating its arrival in mid-2019. We’re getting close to that time of the year, so we thought we’d give you a first look at what we can expect from the Cadillac XT6! Soon you’ll be able to visit a Cadillac dealer near me to see and test drive one of these SUVs, and we can’t wait!

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is an expansion of Cadillac’s SUV family. It’s smaller than the infamously large and iconic Escalade though larger than the mid-size XT5. This SUV is meant for families looking for all the cargo room and seating capabilities of the Escalade, but still small enough to make a great city vehicle and get respectable gas mileage at the pump. Cadillac has paid attention to each and every inch of the upcoming XT6 and we can’t wait to get in it ourselves for a test drive! Reviewers report that the 2020 XT6 is both highly spacious and versatile, a great combination for a luxurious family SUV.

Trims

Once the 2020 Cadillac XT6 arrives at Cadillac dealers, you’ll be able to choose from two different trim options. These include the Premium Luxury trim and the Sport trim. With the Premium Luxury trim, you’ll get authentic exotic wood accents in the interior, as well as a uniquely styled exterior featuring Galvano-finished appointments. You’ll also get exclusive 20″ 6-Split-Spoke Polished and Android-finish wheels and model specific interior color combos.

In the Sport trim of the 2020 Cadillac XT6, you’ll find Carbon Fiber accents and an exterior with uniquely styled high-gloss black appointments. The sport will likely make a statement no matter where you take it. It will also have 20″ 12-Spoke Pearl Nickel-finish wheels with an optional 21″ Diamond Cut with Android-finish wheels. The Sport also will have a twin-clutch AWD system.

Performance

Since this SUV hasn’t hit the market yet, we don’t know a whole lot about how it will feel and handle on the road. It’s expected that this SUV will deliver excellent ride quality and smooth handling based on its body and other similar Cadillac models. The 2020 Cadillac XT6 will come with a powerful 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine, 271 torque, nine-speed automatic, and a strut front and multilink rear suspension to ensure that smooth ride.

Technology

We do know a lot about the different technological features that will be in the XT6 however, even though we haven’t gotten to take it out for a test drive yet. Every new XT6 will come standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch driver-information display for extra visibility. This SUV’s infotainment system will be controlled by a metal knob that has joy-stick-like tilt functionality to make navigating through menu options even easier.

There will be plenty of standard equipment in the 2020 Cadillac XT6. You’ll get an unprecedented 6 USB ports, two for each row of seats as well as power releases for folding down the second and third row of seatbacks. Controls for these are located in the trunk and in the passenger rear door area. A hands-free power-opening liftgate is also standard to make it easy for loading and unloading cargo.

Available features on the XT6 include a head-up display, surround-view parking camera, and automated emergency braking that engages when the vehicle is in reverse. For standard safety features, Cadillac went all out. You’ll get forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

Interior

As we mentioned in the trims section, this new SUV is fully furnished for luxury and to accommodate your whole family in three rows and all their luggage or sporting equipment. You’ll find premium, authentic materials are used to upholster and build the interior of the XT6 so that you can take the luxury with you on the road. You’ll get to select from real wood, carbon fiber, premium leather and metallic finishes when you build your perfect XT6. Finely crafted Opus Semi-Aniline Leather is an available option on all three rows of the XT6.

Many auto-critics are praising the upcoming XT6 for its spacious cabin and comfortable seating. In many of the XT6’s competitors on the market, the third row of seats are reserved for children only because they are so cramped. This isn’t the case in the XT6, which has been designed to fit adults in all of its rows.

Not only does the XT6 deliver comfortable seating for the whole family, there is also plenty of cargo room, the second most important aspect of any quality SUV. When you fold down the second and third row of seats, you can make a maximum of 79 cubic feet of cargo space. Plenty of room for suitcases, golf clubs, or anything else you need to put in the back. Just folding down the last row of seats makes 43 cubic feet of space, and leaving all seats unfolded leaves 13 cubic feet of space to throw some bags in.

Design

From a design perspective, the upcoming 2020 Cadillac XT6 truly delivers. It has striking, sharp-edged features that will be turning heads and causing a stir no matter where you decide to drive your new XT6. Whether you decide to use it for commuting, carting the kids back and forth from school, or going on extensive road-trips all over America, this SUV will let you do it in style.

As already mentioned, this SUV exceeds expectations inside for roominess and comfort. The exterior is just as exceptional, with bold detailing and poignant wheels. The XT6’s roomy interior may be surprising to some because of the fact that the XT6 uses the shorter wheelbase version of GM’s three-row crossover platform. What this means is that the XT6 is essentially sized the same as the GMC Acadia. Both of these vehicles share a 112.7-inch wheelbase, which is only 0.2 inches longer than the Cadillac XT5’s. This means that the XT6 is noticeably smaller in dimension than GM’s extra-large Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Both of those vehicles have a longer 120.9-inch wheelbase.

One of the reasons that XT6 feels roomier than other competitive SUVs on the market is because its roof is higher. The extra height runs almost the entire length of the boxier roof, which makes it even easier to fit tall passengers in the back. The 2020 XT6’s rear passenger windows are also large quarter windows, making it even more comfortable and less claustrophobic for adults who get to sit in the back! This features also alleviates worry about blind spots in this SUV.
